Re: Forum Response
In my experience, most server related issues at online forums, occur as a result of rapid growth. The site that I mentioned previously, went through that - it started out as sort of a hobby for the owner, who I'm sure did hope that it would take off, but I doubt he had any inkling of how fast that would happen.
In that case, the owner failed to invest in hardware and technical expertise. The end result, was years of horrendous problems. Fortunately for him, the subject matter was so popular (no, it wasn't porn), that he got away with being lame and someone with major money finally bought him out.
The difference, I think, is partly that his growth issue was exponentially larger than what iboats has experienced. That said, iboats has invested the money needed to keep up with its own situation. It has also done so in a very effective manner.
In doing this, I think iboats has maintained a loyal user base, but it has also demonsrated an attention to detail, that makes me very comfortable in doing business with them. I guess the bottom line is, if you can't run a forum well, why would nay one trust you as a vendor? Happily such problems are not an issue here.
