I took my boat out in sept for my last day of wakeboarding and towards the end of the day my forward movement went to almost nothing. the shop said the transmission and engine seem fine and that maybe some plates inside were dirty. suppossed to bring it back in the spring. does this sound normal or should i be alarmed? the boat is a 1995 moomba sk with a 351 motor.

Plates were dirty? I don't think so, check fluid level and may find it low and the clutch plates may have burned. Either pump is week, filter is clogged or tranny needs a rebuild

if i remember correctly, it was damper plate or flex plate the shop mentioned that might be the issue

Moomba is a direct drive, right? I don't know how props work on those (never dealt with it), but my first thought would be a spun hip on a I/O or Outboard.

Sounds like you need to pull the transmission. Before that check the trans fluid level cold. If it's low need to add some and find out what leaked. If it is discolored and smells burnt then the clutch pack has burned and trans needs rebuilt.

Edit: Check connections on the oil cooler

I would check the prop because on the direct drive boats there is a key way on the shaft that locks the prop to the shaft,my guess is that the key way broke from use. There is a nut on the end of the shaft, take that off, then remove the prop, you'll probably need a prop puller, and the key way is on the inside of the prop.
