1990 50 hp mercury, I bought it two weeks ago , has not been in the water in 3 years, the gas was old I changed the gas but did not clean the carbs out the old gas was still in. I started the engine last weekend and ran it for about 30 seconds, this weekend the darn thing will not start. get spark with one plug and none with the others. What caused the plugs to foul so quickly.Sprayed gas where the plugs go in and the motor did not try to turn over.

You need to establish if the plugs are fouled or the engine has lost spark use a clean plug of any type, with the ground cut off or a spark gap of some type and ck it out

Maybe check your carbs. The 91' 50 I bought several years ago sat for 4 years before I got it, and had water in the tank. I did like you and changed the gas, but after a lot of running problems I pulled the carbs and found varnish flakes in one of them. They were large enough to block the gas supply to one of the cyls.Gave them a good cleaning and haven't had a problem since.

Jerry
