Re: Found a boat, what do you think? HELP!

OK. After a weeks vacation. I come back and ask if she still has the boat, which she does. I talk to the bank... They wont give me over the book value, which they shouldnt. I offered her 6500 from bank, and 500 from me, so $7k and no more. She then counters with $7300. So I think she is finally in the ballpark. Not sure I can squeeze the $300 out of her for the $7k? Is $7300 a fair price at this point or is she still over priced? Again, not too many boats, if any for sale in my area. I do realize that the end of the season is about a month away also... Thanks to all, you guys have been great.

The season is more than half played out. I would think that you should start to get into the mindset that the boat will now be another year older soon, based on its plans for next season. Keep this midset when talking to her again. The offer should be below the $7000, since she has shown her reluctance to deal when the time was still good for this year's season. Otherwise, she just screwed you out of a good time this year and wants to still make a profit on it. Just my honest opinion...

I'd offer like 7100 and say that's final. Otherwise I'd just drive to a larger market and haul a different one home. Might take a weekend or something to do it and you might spend like 200 in gas, but you'll get exactly what you want at a reasonable price.

Sticking points 3.0L
Season is over
It was in such great shape it already needed repairs.

Boating isn't that expensive. We can store a boat at our marina year round with winterization and spring startup for 1300 with in/out service.

well finally agreed on a price of 7150. need to schedule a river trial before any money is exchanged of course. Anyway... need some help understanding something....

she owes on the boat. the bank holds the titles. the local branch obviously doesnt have the titles. she needs my money to pay the loan to get the titles. how do I give her money to pay the loan and get the titles but be assured that I am going to get the titles. this is a hang up for me right now. any help is appreciated. thanks to all!

Bill of sale and conduct the transaction at the bank that holds the lien.

Wow, that's a LOT of thinking over this deal. Glad you got a good deal in the end.

Good luck on the sea trial.
