I am not sure if this is the right place or not, but I just downloaded a set of lake maps from Navionics to use on my i-phone. cost was $15 for the extire USA. Looks like they are available for other smart phones as well as I-pod and I-pad. They look pretty decent, and for the price I could not go wrong.

I've also downloaded/purchased them for my Android phone. I had a few install issues when downloading the maps but, once downloaded, they've worked great. I wouldn't depend on it for primary navigation but makes a great back-up and planing tool. I also downloaded/purchased the southeast US coastal charts.

I've been using the navionics on my Android phone for a year now and it's actually quite accurate, the funny part is that it even shows the individual docks that people have, so I was able to use it to navigate literally up to some friends boathouses.....lol.

Combine it with a decent depthfinder and it's an ideal alternative to a $900 GPS/finder unit for the recreational boaters.

Do those navionics maps give water depth (AKA blue charts)?

They give water depths that are as recent as the last update, which is why I recommend using it in conjunction with a real time depth finder.

When using it with mine they were usually within 2-3 feet.

Using it for about a year now, also. They depths are good until you get less than 5', then you really need to watch your depthfinder.

Mine fairly accurately shows sunken logs and debris on my lake.
