Found it For Free !!!!

Took a different way in to work this morning and came across an outboard with a "FREE" sign on it. Looking for some help as to what it is (vintage etc)

Model # is 40802A

Serial # is C587982

Number on the inside of the casting is 307770

It is an Evinrude and has "Big Twin" on the hood.

Dropped some oil in the cylinders and got some movement. Who knows whether I will attempt to get it going or break it for spares.
Any info will be helpfull.

nice find i know you were happy.nothing like a OMC outboard.im sure you could get her running after all it is a OMC

If I can make her run then I will make her run. Heck if all goes well I will find a cheap and cheerful boat to go with it and take her out now and again.
I know i will have a lot more questions when I really get into it. For the next few days though i am leting some penetrant sink in. I will start going from there....Oh and I almost forgot I have to make another outboard stand.
Will post some photos soon.

this might be a helpful article it tells you how decarb thr outboard and im sure she has alot of carb build up over the years.

Thanks for that. I will keep everyone posted on what I find and be asking for help and advice on a regular basis.

Well Mark, I think it is going to be a long project but I am looking forward to it. I would love to make her run sweet again !!! but I think I am in for a long haul !!!!!!

As spoken by a farmer that had a drought last year and monsoon this, it will give you something to do when the fields are wet.
