FOUND IT!!! Starting with Handle in nuetral.

From the begining. Boat would not start. Tuned up boat, fired right up.
Trim would not go up, went through complete system including taking handle off and checking trim switch.
Ended up being limit switch on outdrive was dirty.

Boat wont start again. Thought I did something wrong on putting new plug wires last night. Double checked all connections.

When I wiggle handle around in nuetral, staionary position, boat starts. Its a connection somewhere

How do I adjust or find that connection. Wiggle the handle to start it is no good.
I was real carefull when I took it apart and put it back together. It was probably my problem all along, but my boat needed a tune up anyway.

What do you mean by boat starts? Do you mean the engine will crank over or the engine runs when you wiggle the handle?

There is a neutral safety switch in the throttle control, but that only allows power to the starter, has nothing to do with the engine actually running or not.

I turn the key nothing. I wiggle the handle and it cranks over the engine. It will start.
Been reading past threads and it sounds like a neutral safety switch

Where do I go from here.

Keep the terminology straight. Cranking and Starting are two completely different things.
The neutral safety switch only controls cranking. Has nothing to do with the engine starting (running).

You will have to fix the neutral safety switch or it's mounting so it will work. That's not a Mercruiser control, so you might check the Teleflex site for repair parts and information.

Ayuh,.... To Test it, by-pass it,.... it's usually the yellow/ red wires...

To fix it, replace the switch inside the controller...

I will go out and look. Hope this is not to hard to get too. Some of those fancy panels are not removeable.
