I have a 1995 Four Winns 190 Horizon I/O with a 5.0 OMC Cobra Engine. They engine will unexpectedly and abruptly cut off while cruising along (3,000 RPM). After it cuts off, when I turn the key nothing happens. It doesn't seem to have any power going to the starter/engine. However, I still have power to trim the prop out of the water and the other auxillary switches work (i.e., blower, bilge, etc.) and the battery has 12.3 Volts of charge. The first time it happen I let it sit overnight messed around with the engine wires, etc and it started right up. Any ideas what the problem may be? Thanks

check the fuse holder for the ign circuits then check for 12 volts at the keyswitch.
if the gauges power down as well its going to be a bad keyswitch or a loose wire at the starter solinoid or a corroded fuse holder, the power trim is on a seperate circuit.
good luck and keep posting

Thanks for the responses. Schud, the kill safety switch seems to be functioning correctly. Rodbolt, the gauges do power down as well. I'll check out the items you mentioned and let you know. I have another question, "There are two red buttons with the number 50 written on the ends of them located on the upper left hand (driver) side of the engine compartment. Are they breakers? If so, what trips them and how do you reset them.

Yes you can reset them, sometimes if they are hot they need to cool down before they reset. Also you should have a third breaker to the left of those under the main cannon plug

I am a little embarrased to admit it but it turns out Schud was right. The problem was in fact the kill safety switch. The lanyard was still attached but it had moved enough that the contact was no longer made on the switch even the lanyard appeared to be in the proper position. I found the problem by checking for voltage on both sides of the switch and only had 12 V on the upstream side. Readjusted the kill switch laynard and the boat fired right up. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
