my 94 four winns fling with 90 hp. johnson sat for 3 yrs winterized when i got iit and i tried getting it going on the water and the boat wag getting hot and only moving about 4 mph wide open. when it was running it was taking on quite a bit of water from them back of the head on pass. side my questions are 1. is there supposed to be something connected on the brass fitting on the bottom of the exhaust manifold?
2. what would cause it to get hot and only run 4 mph wide open at the same time.
and 3. where posibally could the water be comming from behind.

i have the engine out of the boat now and going to put new gaskets and seals on. i only ran the boat long enough for the out sides of the heads to read 190 degreses with a laser thermometor and water had already filled up over my bilge pump is that too hot for the heads. it took only about 2minutes for the boat to get that hot

Re: four winns fling questions

you can view parts diagrams and order parts here, http://shop2.evinrude.com/ext/index.aspx?s1=bf6ad09c53cead335fcfd8a6471c0f7f upper left it says Evinrude, it is a drop down menu, click "turbo jet" then your year.

many things can cause it to run hot. stuck tstats, blown head gasket, cooling water pump shot.

the Fling is the only application of the motor drive combo, many of us have never even seen one, in person.

read the TOP SECRET FILE, 1st thread in this forum.
