Oh, Yeah! Also check the torpedo shaped plate below the pump. Remove the stainless plate and gasket and check the walls of this aluminum plate. If they are badly corroded, water can bleed from the outlet side of the pump to the inlet, thereby drastically reducing the amount of water delivered to the block.

Not sure, but I wonder if a stuck thermostat would cause it to not spit water?
Also, did you read the posts on testing your over temp alarm. VERY important.

Water will continue to be exited out the appropriate exit points regardless of whether the thermostat is open or closed. Also, an important reminder when replacing the impeller. You want to avoid rotating the motor in a counter-clockwise direction when reinstalling the lower unit. Doing so can cause the impeller vanes to be set in the wrong direction. Upon starting the motor for the first time the vanes are not able to readjust to the proper direction without sustaining damage due to the high rpm's the motor spins the impeller. If by chance the motor is rotated in the wrong direction, just be sure to rotate the motor manually several turns in a clockwise direction to reset the vanes in the proper direction prior to restarting the motor.

Hello pumabmx, I'm also in S. Texas (Harlingen). Read your threads and was wondering how you handled the transom work on the bayliner. I also found a bayliner pretty cheap but needed floor and transom work. I redid a floor on my old 17 ft sportcraft years ago and it was a nightmare, it also needed the transom repaired but instead sold it cheap. I'm retired and plan to fish the port mansfield area and am going to get a boat to fix up. Later...Sam D :)

Keep the motor, junk the boat by the sounds of it. Anything suspect with the transom and you will nrver have a "warm and fuzzy" feeling while out in it.
