Re: free boat build

so i weeded the hull
pulled up the floor
looked over the whole boat and trailer
found the few suspect leaks in the bottom
itll need floor paint and misc things
but the trailer i like
but needs work
itll need stripped and painted
then the spring brackets are rusted to hell so
im gonna replace the axle with something more modern
but keep the coil springs with new mounts on it
im gonna add an electric winch instead of the hand one
can i run the winch off the boat battery?

Cool looking boat. Are you in PA or was just the boat from PA?

Thats an aluminum hull right?

If you are close to the boat landing, Before you start work on the floor, you can float the boat for a while. Looking for leaks, Mark them as you go...

Or you can Garden hose and fill the boat up with water and look on the exterior for leaks.

Re: free boat build

Looks like a nice project. Should be a breeze to complete as it looks pretty much intact w/o and structural damage. Lots of elbow grease, a new deck and some paint, should be a great ride!

they tried to give it to family but noone wanted it
then i work with this lady who gave it to me
she took me fishing out on the river in her bass boat and i bascily told her i wanna get a boat but cant afford any fight now ans then 3 days later she asked if i wanted this one

Re: free boat build

Well worth restoring, check out the Starcraft restos as you are dealing with a very similar hull.

Leaks can be prevented by sealing all rivets and seams with Gluvit before you replace the deck.

Good luck and welcome to the tin can club:)
