Re: FREE BOAT! :screams in terror:

Just posting so I can stay updated with the project, and so I can talk shop with a couple people local to me (Smoke and CC).
Hailing from Richmond, KY here.

Loving the free boat so far Smoke. And, also as an IT professional, and a local, I can probably recover those photos for you for.... $81!

In all seriousness, if you are near Richmond anytime soon, let me know, we may be able to get them back.

If you want to mail it, I can send you my address. I can also understand being hesitant mailing your hard drive to a stranger. Your call.

I'm outta here. We're heading down to Burnside tomorrow. Last big lake trip before school starts! BOooooooooooooooo!

Super nice project!

I've only been on the forum for a short time, but this is one of the first threads I subscribed to. Look forward to the updates!

It breaks my heart but I have her in storage for a while... I am working a construction project that keeps me off of the water and out of the boats.... The good news is tho that I am at least making a bit of money to pour into that "hole in the water" at some point in the future :D

AWE DANG man... I wish I would have realized it at the time... This past june I bought a car probably less than 15 minutes away from you.... If I'd realized I would have tried real hard to invite myself out on that rocket sled glasstron of yours....

I remember seeing something about Grapevine and thinking it sounded familiar but couldn't figure out why.

No updates for a while yet... BUT.... I came SOOOOOO close to buying another boat.... the logistics killed it though... I just didn't have time to make the deal and get it moved before the deadline which was the end of this month..... Get ready to drop a jaw at what I ALMOST bought!
I'm certain that I would have won the auction for 4.5k but I would have bid 5k in the last few seconds to be safe.
Then I could have sold the Monte Carlo for plenty to pay for her and fix her up with money to spare.

Nice boat!! Movin' it would have been a chore for sure, and then ya' gotta' feed it too

I thought you had already gotten rid of the Monte Carlo.

Re: FREE BOAT! :screams in terror:

moving it would have been no problem (for me anyhow) but I just didn't have time to get it done.

..........

nah I was all set to sell her right before I got the call to start on this project but things changed... I'll still replace her at some point but not yet

I'll sell the other one at cost to one of my friends if I don't find a use for it.

Would depend on my work schedule which isn't much right now. Probably going to have to watch the weather that time of year up there to.

I hear ya on the weather.... This will be my third 28'er out of that area and I've got hammered with blizzards both times before... ugh no fun.... at least this time I can be a little bit flexible on exactly when to go.

I picked up a kicker.. a merc 7.5 that ran great and needed a lower unit for $75 and then another w a good lower and power head but wiring issues for $120.

Still need to locate an aux motor mount tho.

Re: Free boat! UPDATE!

I got my blown hydraulic hose changed out n bled the trim system. I also went ahead and yanked the shrink wrap off of her.

I pulled the teak bow pulpit from the donor boat for my other project and test fit on this.... gonna work great. It has a really nice remote spotlight and a Horizon 500 windlass on it too.

Re: Free boat! UPDATE!

I just ordered a kicker bracket on fleabay "GARELICK AUXILIARY OUTBOARD MOTOR BRACKET 71057 UP TO 20 HP" $115 shipped
$T2eC16V,!wsE9suw)po6BRlE6GOuCQ~~60_14.JPG

Also It looks like my grab rail n misc parts in Florida are gonna be brought up here on the 29th as I have a buddy coming up for a wedding.

Will be so nice to get the rail and windshield installed so I can get a cover made... Plus getting the kicker installed will free up some much needed storage space inside the shop.

Still plugging along I see.

Get your spar varnish while you can.
The VOC laws are causing companies to not make it.
Its still out there now, but I think it is only a matter of time.
