Gotta love a free boat!
It has a major ant infestation, LOL. I think I may have to gut the whole thing to get rid of em......they are everywhere!!!!

there ain't nuttin free about a boat. looks like a great project though. strip it out, then devise a plan, keep the steps and goals small, so you can see the progess. or you will get discouraged. get her to where she is strong, stable, and safe again. then you can add the make up and take her out. i'd rather have a safe old hag, than an unsafe beauty.

Those look like those wood eating carpenter ants. Leave them in and hopefully
they will eat the rotten transom and save you some work..:D:D

Cool looking project boat:)

Take a look below if you want to see what it will look like restored. Yours looks exactly like my tri-hull. (restored in 2002)

Thanks for the pic of the restored boat...give me motivation!

I managed to get the motor on the engine running like a top. I know the transom is rotted but I couldn't help but take it out for a spin!

On the second trip around the I lost all steering on the boat:-0 when we were gpomg about 45MPH.
I cut the throttle back and we just spun around in circles to a stop. What a stable boat design!
Turned out the nut that connects the steering bar to cable wasn't there. Luckily we were able to just pop it back in and get back to the dock.

drewpster, is that a Thundercraft tri-hull? I have a free one waiting on me to pick up and take home. It's an 85 powered by a Mariner 60 HP. The main thing wrong with mine is it needs a trailer.
