Re: freebetonys turbo

bondo, you seem to know all about turbos
Nope...... No Way......
But,
I've been doing Alot of reading,+ research........
I've got a 400SBC Project setting on an enginestand in my garage........
It'll be sporting Twin Turbos, Aftercooler,+ 4bbl Carbs...... Shoehorning it into a 14' Glastron Jetflite, along with a Berkley Jetpump...........
A Suicidal Jet-Ski, so to speak.......... :D
have you come across anyone that has had this done before?
Banks......
Lincolnfelder.......
Offenhauser......
Edlebrock.......
M&W Gear Co. .............. ;)
Just to name a few...........
But, Most of this work,+ the products they spawned, Happened in the 60s,+ 70s.......
does anyone know of a kit that will fit to the 4.3lx 1999 190hp mercruiser?
Due to Many Reasons stated above, You're somewhat limited in Your choices......
A Big GMC Roots Blower poking up thru your engine hatch Is 1 option........... :D
Or, There are the new belt driven blowers that are Very popular with the Hot Boat crowd......
There's the Paxton, which is a belt driven turbo kind of thing........
And the Wipplecharger, which is a belt driven Roots type of blower......
Even though these belt driven blowers are much easier to adapt to an EFI, Carbs are Not out of the game............
Who Says you have to "Blow Thru" the Carb..???
Tony's kit,+ My project are "Draw Thru" the Carbs........

Charlie,
For the reasons you state is the Best Arguement For adding that kit to Tony's motor.....
His fuel mileage would have gone Up, from the Better Efficency... Working Less, for the Same output....

The Kit that Tony was looking at had a water jacketed housing on it...... It appears that they removed the Riser from the Merc manifold,+ bolted on the Turbo.... The Turbo's downpipe becomes the riser,+ the water is dumped in After the turbine.......
On the otherside, there's 2 manifolds....
1 moves the Carb to the front of the engine,+ connects to the turbo Intake side.........
1 bolts to where the carb Used to be,+ connects to the turbo's Output side.........
And,
The Best Part,
The Kit doesn't increase the Size of the doghouse................

There's a pretty good picture at the auction.....
