freeze out plug?

I was running my 55' Fleetwin 7.5 and started to see water pissin' out from below the bottom cylinder... looked like a small freeze out plug. I shut her down and gently tapped it back up into position... It still drips a very little bit. What do you do?

SIDE NOTE: Also, I am proud to say I purchased a harmonic balance remover... and used it! A torque wrench... and used it! and a compresion guage and yes, used it too. It is amazin' how much better things go when you use the right tools. Thanks for the gentle urging you all provided regarding my ignorance o such things.

You need to replace that welsh plug. They are one time use plugs. I've had that one pop out on me too.

What is the best way to extract/replace? I am sure I can buy them at the marine dealer here... he has most everything I need. Thanks

You will have to either remove the powerhead or the cylinder head. Drill a small hole in the plug and pry it out. When you install the new one you need to gently tap it in place until the dome shaped plug flattens out.

Re: freeze out plug?

Sorry to bring back an old thread.
I'm having a similar issue with a 1990 johnson 175. I need to get a new plug, but cannot locate one. BRP does not list a part for this. any ideas?
