South Georgia, North Florida Winter FREEZE Warning.

We are not use to this. There is a predictions of some of the coldest weather in recent years, several well below freezing night, Saturday morning, low to mid 20?s. this is cold enough to damage your motor and drives, if precautions are not taken.

Pulled all the drain plugs in mine this past weekend in anticipation of this type weather, so I am ready. That does not mean I like it.

Freeze???? oh LORD that means everyone is going to be heading to the store to pick up all the milk and bread they can before they get snowed/iced in. Ha Ha I love living in the south.

i remember 15-20 years ago, it was like that here, we just did not prepare. roads were iced, could not get out.

If the boat is not stored in a heated garage then you need make sure all the water is drained from engine, fresh water system, etc.

I think it is time to change lower unit oil and keep the outboard legs down to make sure you drain all the water out.

Hope you have heat for a day or 2 down thereUp north(upstate Ny) right now is -2.-8 over night and -15 tommorrow nite!!!ouch!!!Hope you all stay warm and your boats are protected....

Well here in Arizona it is kinda cool too.Got down to about 50 dgrees.Now that is cold.lol.I think that I had better throw a burlapp sack over the 40 horse like a rose bush.You guys will be ok,Just toughen up a little,whimps,lol

on obs its not so bad....just dont leave the leg in the trlr position........but anything with a "stored water system" can be in trouble.........eg....an i/o or a gallye water system or head.

and no......throwing a "blanket" on the boat wont do it

while it is true a light bulb or small ceramic heater will do the job......it is not always the best.

the ceramic heater can cause spark as the heater's thermostat cycles.....(obviously the spark can cause a boom if there is a gas leak some where)

draining is uasually the best answer.....it only takes a second......and no worries.

dont forget the power steering cooler.

Dang! I wish it would get even close to 50 here, low tonight is suppose to be -5 with -20 wind chill, makes using the boat seem pretty far away.

Makes you wonder about all this "global warming", the last 3 winters have been the coldest I can remember for quite a while.

I am going ice fishing Saturday but it just isn't the same as getting out on the boat.

Oh come on, freezing warning at only 20F? That is downright tropical compared to the -30C (-22F) we are expecting tonight and tomorrow night :. Windchills are predicted into the -40C (-40F).

I'm sure I can hear the ice thickening on the lake, and the snow crunches like walking on potato chips. Bone chilling is the only way I can describe it. Not typical for this area but can be expected once or twice a season.

Good luck with the boats, enjoy the warmth if you've got it. I'm going to throw a couple more logs into the wood stove.

Oh and don't be blaming us neighbors to the north for the cold. Its the global warming thing

We have to wait until Saturday before our high temps will break 20. -15 tonight and -20 tomorrow night with the high getting all the way -3. Not good boating weather but I got my boat wrapped up and stuck away in heated indoor storage on a rack. I sure miss my boat!
Hope everyone's boat stays thawed down there and protect the citrus, it's already too expensive in Wisconsin during the winter!

Yup, I'm in Wisconsin toowe are talking -20 tonight and a windchill of -48...My boat is in my UNHEATED garage, but at least I see it everyday I'm thinking about Buying a case of hairspray today and empting them all out in my driveway to see how much Ozone I can destroy!!! I hope all the talk of "Global Warming" is over (Haven't heard much about it lately!!) This is why we keep talking about moving to Florida, SOUTH Florida!!!

My goodness -- you folks don't know what "cold" is. It's 21 BELOW ZERO here in Minnesota. Guess it's time to look for my winter jacket and I know I have a pair of gloves somewhere!
