It would be a way to change the wonderful taste of Atlantic lobster into the flavor of a crawdad boil.

Let the flavor of the lobster speak for itself.;)

True that. Salt, Butter and Lemon.

Guess I'm in the minority, I sever the nerve just behind the head just as they're going in, I find live lobster knocking on the side of the pot to get out can be off putting to my guests. I usually steam them though.

I never understood the head down thing either? Don't lobster swim backwards?

The sooner you get the head near the boiling water or steam, the sooner they croak. Supposedly it only takes 10 seconds in the steam/ boiling water before the bug's dead. All the kicking is muscle reaction. This is one of the reasons I keep them in the fridge. They are essentially asleep when they hit the water, so they don't put on much of a show for me.

The last time I grilled some big warm water lobster tails,I cracked them slightly bending them backwards, cut a stick of cold butter into 1/4s lengthwise, and seasoned the butter w lemon peper. Then I inserted the 1/4 sticks into the anal cavity in the tails and pushed it down inside.I put them on shell side down parallel w the grates so they would'nt roll over, for 10 mins or so and then carefully picked them up w tongs and poured the butter into a bowl when I turned them over and grilled till done.It worked pretty well and they were fantastic w the lobster butter. The shell holds the butter in well when shell side down.kinda like boiling them in butter.

(PJ, I will trade you a #1 pound lobster for a 5 pound dungeness crab?? this is a good trade bud:D )

lets see $10 a lobster (don't really care for lobster to bland) and I would have to use up about $30 in fuel to catch a feed. Fresh vers store bought. Ok you deliver and we will go get your crabs.:p

Well BIN DER DONE DAT now, not impressed with the end result.

Chewy and bland.
There was a ton of meat mind ya.
But still I prefer crab meat better texture, aroma and taste.

Going over to the neighbours for some info on what to do with the leftovers, hopefully we can make a great sea food chowder (with real cream)

Ahhh, Lobstah! What a treat. We have the big pot for steaming with seaweed when we're at oceanside, but lately we've been purchasing online. Comes with clams, small potato and corn. Wonderful!

The butter, that's the key. Don't skimp on the butter. Has to be the real thing, no oleo!

Hope you have lobster shell cracking tools, they come in handy. Everyone at the table should have a set! Makes lobster eating a fest and a test; who can get the most out of a leg... So much fun! :)

Wy wife and I won't eat lobster/crab unless it's grilled. Go to a resturaunt and get boiled/steamed, it's a disappointment, no flavor. I just grilled up some lobster tails (like Sasto) last weekend and it was great! Marinaded them in olive oil and Old Bay seasoning over night and threw them on the grill, tasty!

Spiny lobster tails huh? I've had those before. Not too bad, but certainly a different flavor from Maine/Atlantic lobster.

If I remember correctly, I think the spiny lobster actually croaks (dies) once they take it out of the water too.

Yes, spiney lobster, just a big crawdad! A little sweeter than a real lobster.
Hi Sasto, what kind of steak is that is the bread at the top.?

Filet mignon, oddjob. We heated up the bread on the grill too. That photo was taken on the boat New Years Eve. The lady and I do this every year.

I love crab, I love to catch them even more. But I wouldn't say I like crab more or less than lobster, they're just different.

Costco had bags of langostino lobster meat for something like $20 for a decent size bag, anyone have any ideas what to do with it? I almost bought some but didn't have any ideas.

I like langostino steamed in beer and old bay. Kinda like cooking shrimp.

You guys just made me too HUNGRY. Now I will have to take my wife out to dinner tonight. She won't let me kill the beasts at home. I can just get the tails out.
