I am a Paid Firefighter at work right now working on my boat. I had a "Friend" mount my engine but failed to wire in the trim and tilt wireing. Outboard is down (which means I cannot trailer boat) and I desperatly need a wiring diagram for this engine. I have a Selco book at home, 45 minutes away and no way to get it until monday....can anyone help me out with a faxed or emailed copy? Thank you in advance!!!!

Desperate times call for desperate methods! The way I remember which color wire is for Up and Down is as follows:

Green = to the earth;

Blue = to the sky.

If you don't have the battery already connected to the motor (i.e. both Pos and Neg main batt wires hooked up), you can run jumper cables directly to the motor.

Clamp the Neg firmly to a clean metal part of the powerhead to establish ground.

Then, trace the wiring harness coming up from the PT&T motor to the engine.

Find the Blue wire to the PT&T motor and connect the Pos battery jumper wire directly. Watch out for sparks! Of course you're a firefighter so you know how to deal with that kind of stuff!!! ;)

If you do have all other wiring connected to your motor, then all you'd need to do is jump +12V from the battery to the blue PT&T motor wire. She should come right up for you.

One last thought, if you do have proper power to the PT&T solenoids, you can supply +12V directly to the small terminal of the solenoid, which will activate the solenoid and run the PT&T motor. This is the safest way to do it, since there's very little current going to the solenoid coil. Be sure to get on the correct terminal, since one is grounded and that will spark a lot! There should be a black wire connected to the ground terminal, the "hot" wire definitely won't be black, I can recall the specific color.

HTH & let us know how it turns out.........ed

Thank You very much that helps tremedously!...the main harness coming into the outboard (seperate from the plug) has a RED wire that is not connected. When the battery is hooked up it is hot with a test light? again my "buddy who hooked this all up missed a few things....any ideas what that red wire goes to?

Sounds like that's the main battery cable? If so, it should connect to one of the large terminals on the starter solenoid. The opposite large terminal on the solenoid being the one with a shorter cable going to the starter.

Not sure, If I hook up the battery the outboard turns over fine. The wire harness going into the engine has a large plug (typical outboard set up) but coming out of that harness is also are the two PT&T wires, blue and green as you stated....with a red wire with them that is hot when battery is hooked up.....I am assuming this is the power wire for the PT&T? However I am unsure as to where this wire gets connected? I am at a lose...I will have to wait until monday to get the book in front of me I guess? Unfortunatly I am taking up a bay that a fire truck belongs in LOL and come monday when the chiefs arrive I am in deep DO DO...just trying to get the outboard up so I can tow it!!The skeg is 1/4 of an inch off the ground!!
