From the Factory?

I have a 1985 Bayliner bowrider with 85hp Force o/b. It has the big black fin on the motor to help get up on plane. Everything seems fine, but my question is: Did they come from the factory with that fin on it? In the last 2 weeks or so I came across 2 boats exactly like mine for sale in peoples yards. I stopped to check them out & saw the exact same fin on the motor. I can only assume that it had to be a factory thing. Just wondering......

If it's not factory than that's really weird that I saw the other 2 boats with the "EXACT" same fin. Oh well, no big deal just wondering. Ya, I guess it was the "in thing" at one time. I just came off the lake & it was perfect, water was like glass, no other boats, motor running perfect, nice sun down, just wish I had a fishing pole on the boat. Could not have asked for anything more. Hope tomorrow is as good as today.

So I will catch some flack for this, but take the hydrafoil off. You may gain mph. I took mine off, and the boat gets on plane faster without it? However, it all depends on whats going on with your setup. This is just my experience, not gospel.
