Front Live Well

I have a 1984 Bayliner Trophy 1510 Fish and Ski.<br />Purchased recently.<br />The front live well has been disconnect by the provious owner.<br />Question one, shouldn't there be a seperate pump for the front and back well? I see only one in the back of the boat.<br />Question two, what is a good way to snake the new hoses up to the live will, as the old ones are gone?<br />This boat has only one position switches for the live well. It airiates as it is filling.<br />Question 3. I think the builge pump has been replaced. What size of pump should it be?<br /><br />Thanks

Yes, I am sure that is not an anchor locker.<br />That is way up front. The front live well has a drain hole and the hookups for hoses.<br /><br />Probably a lagitamat question.<br /><br />Thanks

an electricians fish tape or 2 is probably as good a tool as any for snaking in a tagline to pull hoses.<br /><br /> some times you can just hook a vacuum up to one end and suck the string through to the other, maybe even tie a small plasic bag or something to it to help it get windage. once oyuve got the tag line run its just a matter of wiggling them in behind it.

Answer one; The pump probably went with the plumbing on e bay to buy fuel.<br />Answer two; Tough one, finding where there’s room past the cross braces if there are any will be a problem. First thing I would try is if there’s an opening big enough to get a light in there somewhere and possibly a mirror to take a look. Not knowing the configuration of your boat I don’t know if you’d be able to string something through there blind or not. <br />Answer three; Your pump can not be to big but it can be to small, I wouldn’t want to be in the situation where you find out the pump is to small. Are you ever in situations where you can poke a hole in the boat? Ever in rough water? Or do you just want to pump out a little rain water now and then? It depends on what kind of boating you do, chose the pump you think it should have then go a size bigger. A through haul exhaust hose broke on my inboard once, lucky my girl friend had a hair spray bottle with her that snugly fit in the pipe or I would have had a long swim home. The water that was rushing in the boat was laughing at my 700 pump.

Thanks for the ideas.<br />I will try the string thing. That works in walls.<br />There was an extra bilge pump in the boat that looks bigger than the one installed. Guess I will check it out.<br />I put in a fish finder and an power outlet so I figure I can handel another live well pump switch.<br />I fish Mobile Bay area and I sneak out in the Gulf when is real flat. But I am concerned about eating a wake from a large boat. AAARGH.

Why two live wells in a small boat? I have a well near the front of the boat with drain. I think it is a fish box. I only use it if the fish are to big for the ice chest. A bait well in the front of boat tends to be hard on bait in a chop. Also water is heavy. There should be a hole next to your other live well switch if it was a live well. Are you trying to keep fish alive or is this for bait.

Ed/il,<br /><br />I agree with the small boat question. I have this thing about makeing things like they were new. So I thought I would maybe get it working. This front well has an inlet and a drain. There are some switches on the front of the boat that may have run the front well. I sent Bayiner an email about a owners manual.<br /><br />Around here I use the wells mostly for bait. But I want to fish some Bass tourneys, so the front well may be needed. <br /><br />Right now it holds my tackle real nice.<br /><br />I wish I had some fish too big for my cooler. Soon I hope.
