I have a 1990 Bayliner Trophy 2359 and it's holding water in the front bilge area. This is the area forward from the gas tank section and just below the water holding tank. I cleaned the gunk out of there and sucked up all of the water but there appears to be no drain tube running through there. The rest of the sections all have tubes running through them. This area is very hard to get to and the only way to see it is with a mirror or a camera. There is a bilge pump with a float switch in that area. Is this the way it's supposed to be? am I missing something? I'll try getting a decent picture to post....

I believe I have the same boat with the same problem. Mine is a 1995 Trophy 23 ft walkaround with a hardtop. The stepdown from the cockpit to the interior cabin is always wet and I don't know where its coming from. Bilge pumps all work but I have a water buildup somewhere in the hull. How did you find a way to inspect this area. I would really like to get in there and take a look.

tilt your boat bow high and remove the bottom plug at the transom and see if you get any water coming out. You could also check the aft bilge at the engine compartment and check for more water. I have a 1985 thundercraft magnum 25' and I am replacing the floor from the bottom of the stairs to the bow. Found wood rot and foot support springer rotten. The way I found the problem was lift the carpet up just at the bottom of the stairs where the fuel tank ends.

I got to that area through an access panel below the cushion on the port side of the sleeping area (I hope you know what I'm talking about). On mine there are two access panels below the cushion, only one of them allows me to see that area in the picture. I'll take a picture of the access panels tomorrow.

I had the bow way up in the air for about 2 weeks. The rear section is dry while the front still had all of the water.

Well, I dug up some information on the web and it seems that this might be the way it's supposed to be. It's kind of crazy that the only thing that will drain that front bilge area is the bilge pump.....

quote from another forum:
"TO MY BAYLINER HELPERS: WEEK AND A HALF AGO I CONTACTED BAYLINER CO. IN THE STATE OFWASHINGTON. I RECIEVED A RESPONSE TODAY. BY THE WAY, EVERY SUGGESTION WAS RIGHT ON LINE WITH BAYLINERS THINKING. 1ST, THERE IS NO DIRECT DRAIN LINE FROMTHE FRONTOF THE BOAT TO THE DRAIN PLUG. THERE ARE BAFFLES IN THE MIDDLE STOPPING THE WATER FROM GOING TO THE BOW. SOME BOATS, MAY HAVE A BILGE PUMP UP FRONT OR UNDER THE STAIR TO HELP OUT WITH EXCESS WATER. HE STATES THE WATER MAY BE COMING IN FROM AN OPENING INTHE FRONT., OR WHERE THE HULL MEETS THE CABIN. THINKS SOMEPLACES NEED RE-CAULKING. HE EMPHSIZED. THAT THERE IS NO DIRECT DRAINAGE LINE IN THE REAR OF THE BOAT,BECAUSE AT TIMES, GAS MAY GET INTHE BILGE AND WORKIT*S WAY TO THEFRONT. tHINKINGHEAVY ON A FRONTBILGE. ICAULKED EVERY HOLE I COULD FIND IN THE FRONT OF THAT BOAT. BY THE WAY, IF YOU GUYS LIVE IN N.J. OR CLOSE BY, YOU HAVE ONE FREE TRIP ON MY 21* BAYLINER FOR STRIPERS AT THE END OF APRIL. OGGIE,DELRAN, N.J. 08075"

BTW, here's the access panels to the bilge area. This is under the lower cushion on the port side facing stern...
