Front roller down to the metal!

I noticed my front central roller (V-shaped) that is about 6 to 8" long is down to the metal in the bottom of the V where the boat hull rubs.

Knew to trailering and boats in general. Is this a big no-no? Boat hull riding on a steel pin doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Guess I'd have to drop the boat in the lake, and then go fix the trailer. Sounds like a pain! What are some recommended websites to replace the roller?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Front roller down to the metal!

Thanks.

See attached pics - that's the roller I need to replace and it's not really the front roller, but the roller further down on the keel.

Can I re-use the pin that's holding it in? I noticed that this product does not come with a pin, it's just the roller itself.

And any tips on how to replace without dropping it in the water?

You can also use one or two small hydrualic jack(s) and some plywood to raise your boat a couple of inches. Just enough to service the roller.

I did this with mine when I installed a homemade front roller. The single roller wore a hole in the keel every year. Now I have 3 support wheels and 6 guide wheels. See attached pic

The nice thing is you can do in the driveway and if there is any issue you don't have to worry about the boat hanging out in the water.
