Fruit flies?

I hate to admit this. I had some potatoes that my 2 year old "hid" in a seldom used cabinet. I found them after noticing a strange smell in the house. I got all of it cleaned up but the little gnats stayed behind. This is a month now and I can't seem to get rid of them. Any ideas? I have made sure to remove/cover anything they may use as a food source and swatting them ain't helping. What to do?

Re: Fruit flies?

We have these spiffy traps that use a type of light to attract them. There are also professional bait stations that work, but usually I just treat around the windows and vents in the problem area and make sure there is no festering vegetable or fruit matter. They like to go to the light, and the treatment gets them. Cleaning the environment is the most important thing, and also check every nook and cranny. Drains and other moist hidden areas can help breeding as well. As always without actually being there, I cannot say 100% what will work for you. Good luck....
