Yeah I think I might postpone the pertronix, not sure. One good thing is that while working on this project I found my transducer to my depth gauge floating around in the bilge, no wonder it reads 2.3ft all the time!!!

I need to figure out how to reinstall the rubber circle that has the transducer in it.

Any suggestions? It must have been glued to the inside of the bilge area?

I have this same boat and a very similar problem. My boat runs perfect MOST of the time then for no apparent reason it will lose power abruptly then start backfiring through the carb. I have new tune up and gas. This doesn't make much sense because it doesn't always do it. Any ideas?
