Re: Fuel Age - Keeping It Fresh

My engine started on first crank today after sitting for 7 months and ran fine. No gas additives.

If you don't need any stabilizers or additives, thats great.......

I have however had issues with bad fuel and an outboard. Yeah it started in the drivway and I could idle it all day long, but my carbs were so gummed up an that the motor wouldn't run with any throttle and it ran like crap. Given that personal expirience, I now use stabilizer and sea foam.

Will that work in a car as well? What to add if car had been sitting up for a few years?

Usually, if you take a whiff of it and it's real bad, it will smell like varnish. If it's been a few years, I would drain it....

Everywhere I look says NAPA carrys Seafoam. Went to get some...nothing. Auto Zone had it. Napa had an out dated boating catylog too. Is it just this one store or are they all this slack?

I don't know, Tim. Mine had a newer catalog and they always have Seafoam and Deep Creep in stock. ...
