I have a 1995 evinrude 88 special. I am having a problem right now where whenever I am on plane the fuel ball will constrict and look like it is crushed. The motor will then lose power. It seems that the motor is not getting fuel, but what could the problem be and where?

Re: Fuel ball

What kind of fuel tank are you using? If it is portable, you must open the vent. Most portables also have a filter at the end of the pickup which can get clogged.

No the fuel ball is not on backwards. The tank is a below deck tank.

Re: Fuel ball

hello
check the anti-siphone valve for obstructions. its located at the fuel draw tube. if that is clear remove the fuel draw tube and inspect it closely. remember a lot of the draw tubes had filter screens in them. gack engineers again :) :)
good luck and keep posting
