when I fuel up my boat, once I get about half full the fuel starts bubbling out the fuel filler neck. I have replaced the vent hose but it did not help. I have a 62 gallon tank and it takes 4-ever to get the last 20-25 gallons into the boat. can I up-size the vent hose? will this work?

Vent hose should be corect size. One thing I have seen is if vent hose has any saggs in it it fills with fuel and then does not vent very well. Make sure the vent hose angles up fron the tank to the vent so if any fuel gets inside the vent hose it will run back to the tank so the vent hose is open. If it has a sag anywhere alont the line it is just like the trap on your sink to block sewer gas, it will block the vent.

I run my vent hose directly from the tank in an inverted "U" shape going straight up from the tank and back down to the vent outlet. Never had a problem..

I have my hose routed in an upwards oriented loop, so no fuel can pool and it would be extremely difficult to get fuel to get through it and out the vent during very rough conditions with a full tank.

Make sure the main fuel fill line doesn't have a sag or sharp bend in it as well.

I have the same problem with one of my boats. I I believe mine is from the angle the gas tank rest when the boat is on the trailer. I only have the problem when fueling up while the boats on the trailer. It appears to me that the gas covers the vent hose when abotu 3/4 full not allowing ventalation. I have to slosh my boat around a bit then I can add more fuel, all beit at a very slow rate.

Does your vent hose extend down into the tank some, or is it just attached to the top with a fitting to where nothing drops down blow the top surface?

If the hose does extend into the tank, the gas level will eventually rise to the point that the end of the hose is submerged, thus not venting except at the fill cap. Probably doesn't vent very well when running either, until the fuel level drops some... Just a thought....
