I have a 1986 30 horse evinrude (Electric start/Tiller) that i got in a trade. I just got around to trying to get her running as the previous owner said "it ran...but needs carb work or something". Well, first thing i found was the coil wires were reversed because it was backfiring when i would turn it over . Next, I removed the carb to do a rebuild/cleaning. When I got it off I realized that the (Venturi?) tube from bowl to carb top was split/bent as if someone attempted to remove it. Fortunately, I had a spare motor so I had another carb. After replacing the carb I used a spray bottle with fuel to ensure it runs and it does. However, when I plug my fuel line into the motor and squeeze the bulb gas flows out the front of the carb. I can see that it comes straight up from the (Venturi?) main tube from the bowl to the carb top. With the amount of fuel coming out the carb I never tried to fire her up. I have checked the float needle tip and it is like new. I also adjusted the float. Nothing changed...fuel steadily flows out the front of the carburetor. Where do I go from here? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
