Fuel Coming Out Of Carbs??

I Noticed When My 76 Merc 500 Is Tilted Up I Am Getting Fuel Coming Out Of The Carbs . It Is Soaking In Front Of Carbs And Dripping On Carbs Themselves, Worse When Trailering. What Gives???????

Does a full cup of water spill when tilted? Same with the float bowl on the carbs. It's full of fuel. When you tilt the engine the bowl tips and out comes the fuel. Not only that, but the float no longer seals the fuel inlet so any residual pressure in the line will push more fuel out.
