Re: fuel constupion 130hp

average consumption of an outboard is moving the deciaml the the left 1 space 130hp 13 gallons per hour. of course other factors have to be evaluated, weight of boat , trim, conditions.

And you can improve it a lot by simply backing off a few miles per hour

Re: fuel constupion 130hp

There is a very long thread dealing with this subject in the Mercury forum. Actual consumption depends on the type of hull, water conditions, load, wind, engine setup and a host of other factors. However, at wide open throttle, 10% of horsepower generally is quite close. Your question about "optimal RPM" is rather vague. Your engine height and prop should be set up to allow the engine to run in the 5600 - 5800 RPM range at wide open throttle. For optimum economy, throttle back to about 4200 or so. But remember, although economy is better at slower RPM, it takes longer to reach your destination so you need to burn more fuel. I provided an example of this in the Mercury forum.

Engines usually have a "sweet spot" where fuel usage is at it's best. This is generally around mid range throttle setting. As posted by tashasdaddy, it will vary depending on load and other variables like trim.

There are, on the market, systems that you can install that constantly measure fuel flow of your engine. The link below is to iboats store and shows you a couple of these gauges.

Check it out.

Re: fuel constupion 130hp

I have one. They are very accurate and work great. My 75 HP Merc (carbed) burns exactly 7.5 gph at wide open throttle, 2 aboard, full live well. The 10 rule definitely applies in my case.

Re: fuel constupion 130hp

josip...You may want to do as Silvertip says and check your set up and maybe re-prop that thing, if 5100 is your WOT RPM, then your lugging that engine at any RPM.

You should be running as close to 6000 as possible, generally 5800, at WOT in order to not lug the engine at any RPM, then you'll get much better performance out of that engine.

Re: fuel constupion 130hp

wot rpm is wide open throttle revolutions per minute. 1st on the manual, is your engine an american or belguim made engine. post the model number off the transom mount. you can order manuals here at iboats store, ebay or from this link. the link will tell you the correct manual you need

If the engine is not running properly, that would account for it reaching only 5100 RPM. Get the engine running properly first and then work on setup and prop changes if necessary.

Re: fuel constupion 130hp

The best service manual is the manufacturers manual. Seloc and Clymer manuals are ok in some areas but lack detail in others. Any manual is better than trying to fix your engine without any manual at all. What specific engine problem are you having? Maybe we can help.

hi
frist sometime when start engin and start driven oil waring light stay light about 10-15 second then turn off,i try check vro, its look that have oil in fuel ,second, when is warm have idle problem, turnoff, i dont know how adjust that electric valve (fuel go in that valve-then in all cilinder),el.valve have red handle, when put in one way(low fuel) then works idle beter but cant accelerate-turnoff,other way (rich fuel)good accelerate-bad idle..
thanks

Re: fuel constupion 130hp

The electric valve is the "primer solenoid". It functions like an electric choke. Pushing in on the ignition key when starting the engine energizes the primer solenoid. The solenoid opens a valve that allows fuel to bypass the normal fuel system and enter the intake manifold. The red lever is a "manual choke" so if the solenoid fails you can turn the lever to allow the same function as pushing the key in. Start the engine and then push in on the key. The engine should begin to run rough meaning the primer is working. Turning the key to ON (not START) and pushing the key should cause the solenoid to click. If you don't hear the click its probably not working. There are three warnings. Steady sound is overheat. Beep every few seconds is no oil. Beep about every 30 seconds is low oil. Which alarm are you hearing. Is the oil tank and filter clean? Air in the oil line?

hi
yes, when i pushing key i hear solenoid to click, but if is lever max close,i cant start when is cold, when open lever about 45 degree still cant start engine without pushing key.so I change kits komplete in all four carburator-stil idle bad.is this engine have some fuel and oil filter on him? i see only fuel filter on tank.
I dont hear any sound(when is oil level low stil no have sound-i think horn is dead),but light lamp-no oil!
bestregards

Re: fuel constupion 130hp

hi
bad news,i try clean primer solenoid and,its ok,work like you says, bat i see that not too much fuel in sistem after VRO,then i check nekst : when starting engine on vro (on engine crankcase pulse) i have positiv presure not vacum? that is not good??
secand when I blow in VRO pulse fiting i heare air in gas/oil out-its look like diaphragm is broken.
what doing next?
thanks

Re: fuel constupion 130hp

The pulse fitting (called a pulse limiter) diaghram may not be broken, but there may be some debris or carbon in it. Remove the fitting and clean it. If it continues to leak it must be replaced.
