I know this question cannot be concretely answered but even an educated response would be appreciated. I have a newly acquired Evinrude V4 VRO 90 HP outboard on a 18 ft Wellcraft(I think going by the logo on the seats only, no other markings on the boat), bowrider. Pretty sure the motor is a 1987 model. Model number is J90TLCUR if that helps .My question is, how many gallons per hour can I expect to burn at say almost full speed? Or just cruising around at say half throttle? Like I said I know I can't expect a concrete answer but a ball park figure would help me win an argument with the wife. Thanks in advance.

welcome to the forum. You first boat? Check on the transom bu the motor for a HIN number (like a VIN on a car) and we'll get you the year boat

yeah it was a recovery boat, no HIN number. It was removed and the hull had been painted over and stripped of all manufacturer markings but thanks.

1 gallon per 10 miles per hour is a helpful formula if it is even close, thank you

No Title

Here ya go, my trailer is a little small but I just beefed up the springs today. Next is heavier ply tires. Luckily the marina is about a 1/4 mile from my house.

cant help you with model but good looking old boat and the motor looks real good on the back. I think too few people think about how the motor looks on a boat.

Thanks, the motor runs real good. I know the previous owner and he has been using it on a lake for the past 4 years. It needs a water pump rite now but other than that it runs fine and there is no rotten wood in the hull at all. The motor is super clean under the cover. Oh and the skeg has a chunk broke off it but not too bad. (My old Galaxy was a total rebuild due to extensive rot along with a motor replacement, needless to say it was a labor of love )

1 gallon per hour usage per 10 horse power of your motor, not miles per hour. Yes, speed can effect this principle. Not necessarily the way you might think. This is just a rough idea.:)

Oh thats a bit different isn't it lol Guess I read your first post wrong. The wife said 300 gallons per trip lol all I want to do is go out to the point and grab some salmon and lake trout. No racing around for me. The point btw is like a mile from the ramp. Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm more of a drift around and relax kinda guy than a speed addict.

It will always be up for sale until I get a good enough offer since I got it for a crazy low price. I don't really need a boat this big just couldn't turn it down

BTY, 18' is not that large. I have a 16.5' and would love an extra foot and a half, maybe a few more even. Just don't want to pay to push it:D
