Fuel fill location

I bought a new gas fuel and vent thing.<br />See this thing here.<br /><br />It is a fill neck and vent combo. I don't like the way mine is now. The place where you put gas now is next to the engine but on the edge of the splashwell. This is above the water but I want to know if I should put this a lot higher than that.<br />It might be possible for water to come over the spalshewell and get into the tank possibly. I can mount it higher but not sure if it would look ok.<br />I will need to mount it flat on top of the gunnel opposite the swim platform. Will mount it out of anybodies way if they were to step on the gunnel in this area.

I'm sure that'll work.....<br />But, It's going to be hard to get a loop in the vent line to keep splashed water out...........

Realgun, Whever you mount it make sure no fuel will run into the boat if you overfill it. If fuel gets into the boat you may go KABOOM!<br /><br />If the top of the gunwale is flat, it is not a good place, since fuel could easily get into the boat. It it is pitched toward the water, it may be OK.

Wherever you mount it make sure no fuel will run into the boat if you overfill it.

Ah said the bright man in the yellow shirt. <br />Your right that could be a bad bad thing. So the gunnel would not be a good Idea. Is the existing fuel fill a good location? It screws on so I think it is water tight. The vent is higher than the fuel inlet. This is to the left of the engine on an edge about 4 inch wide next to the splashwell.

I'd put it up high enough so that it'd be real hard for water be splashing around and get into it.<br /><br />Otherwise;<br />You might not care so much how cool it looks,,, if you're on the lake sometime and the engine konks out from water in the carb.
