...is cracked on my 6hp Johnson OB. Got motor to start but it won't stay running and I think it is bc of the crack. When I press primer bulb gas sprays everywhere out of the tiniest crack. I am no OB mechanic, but I think I could fix this if I knew where to get the part and if I needed to put any sealant or a gasket back on? Any direction would be much appreciated.

Also, I ran the motor for few min today in a tub full of water. I am fairly certain I had it deep enough that it should have been sucking water, but no water was spraying out. If I take it out and get no water coming out, how hard is it to replace an impeller? I am trying to avoid a service bill.

Re: fuel filter cover

Need to know the year....model number would be great.
The motor has to be submerged almost halfway up the leg before it will work in a tub.
The impeller is easy to replace. Just drop the lower unit (4 bolts usually) unhook the shift lever, and the lower unit comes off. The pump is right there in top of the gearcase.
