What are the advantages of having an after market inline fuel filter/water separator. I don't really know that much about them and would like some advice.

With the "wonderful" ethanol fuel we now have, a water/seperator filter is a great idea. If you can, get a Racor. They have a plastic bowl in the bottom of them where you can check for any water in the fuel and you can drain any water out without removing the filter.
