I've been working on my '84 235 Evinrude for four summers, fixing one thing at a time... Right now i'm seeing that my fuel filter housing isn't staying full. The fuel level will get lower slowly at idle, more quickly at higher RPM. The side of the filter to the motor always stays full, but the intake side to the tanks gets depleted. I have two tanks, i have removed both filler caps to ensure the vents aren't blocked.

I haven't checked the fuel pick-ups in the tanks yet. The tanks are built into the side of the boat and nearly impossible to get to. (I've tried)

The motor won't run over 5000rpm WOT and has a week hole shot. Won't pull up a skier worth a crap.

Hi Keith!

Sounds like you may have an air leak in your supply line to the filter. Check for cracked hose, broken clamp or clamps.... Your getting some fuel but just not enough.....their fore low rpm's.....Good luck!
