Fuel filter yes or no

The iboats diagram shows the omission of the inline fuel filter. but their is a screen filter in the fuel pump between the tank and carb. I recall Frank recommending adding a filter between the fuel pump and carb. I am seeking a recommendation whether I need to add a inline filter and type if required. I live in Utah and all gas has 10 percent ethanol added.
Thanks to all.

With my Chrysler I used a right angle filter which I cable tied to the hose between the flanges for the carbies, I have also put clear fuel line in between the fuel pump and carbies and between the carbies, as long as the filter doesn't restrict flow I can't see why you wouldn't.IMG_1538.jpgIMG_1541.jpg

So long as you don't run ethanol fuel, then, you should go pick up an inline fuel filter. if you run it on ethanol, I wouldn't bother, because the damage you will do, the fuel filter aint gonna help........

I'm in Australia, but maybe this will help you

Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

Yes put a filter in there.
Wally World.G-2 or G-12 Fram.
The running ethanol is not a problem.
Remember when they introduced Non leaded gas??
They said it was gonna burn up the valves and heads and cause MAJOR problems for older motors??
It didn't.
The same with ethanol mixed gas.Nothing bad is happening.
It did destroy some older hoses.
I've run it for as long as it's been out,I had to change hoses.
They sell an additive for ethanol.
I used it at first, then I ran out and haven't bought it again.
Been a couple of years since I added it.

Thank you Justinde, It never dawned on me to search for ethanol free gas stations. Amazing that someone in Australia can show me how to get ethanol free gas 30 minutes from my house.... Thanks again.

The in-line clear fuel filter between the fuel pump discharge and carb input is mostly for troubleshooting purposes and also as a back up filter in case the fuel pump diaphragm is torn, preventing debris going into the carbs. It is a very cheap filter just make sure you have the right tube size connection for your fuel hoses.

I have a filter before and after the fuel pump. If you could see the debris inside of the 9000 gallon fuel tankers that haul gas to your local convenience store, you would use a filter too. I have seen more that my share as I am in the repair field of these units.:joyous:
