Fuel Flow Gauge

With twin 150 loopers, fuel costs have been soaring for me at around 200 hours a season.

As such I've been looking for a fuel computer. I've read about the Navman 3100 and the FlowScan models. I'm really looking for an accurate readout of what I have left, how far it will take me and optimum speed to consumption. GPS integration is available.

Has anyone used any of these or others? Any suggestions would be appriciated.

I have a Navman 2100 on a single engine application. Works fine. It helps you find the engines "sweet spot" where fuel consumption is optimal. See my post about ordering though.

Re: Fuel Flow Gauge

I have the Flow Meter Twin Scan series on my boat and absoloutly wouldn't be without them. I can't tell you that they help me save fuel, but you won't find a more accurate fuel consumption guage anywhere. They claim accuracy within 2%, I have found mine to be closer to 1%. While burning 150 to 175 gallons they miss by about 1-1.25 gallons always in my favor. I consider it a reserve amount, That gives me another 1.5 - 2 miles.

I removed my two origional tachs and installed these two guages (except white w/stainless bezeals). With them you have twin tachs, twin gallons per hour, total gallons used, miles per gallon (when connected to GPS), and a syncronizer guage.

I bought the Lowrance cheapie. It seems to work ok, but everything is on one guage and you have to page through menus, which I really havent figured out yet. It has been a big help on controlling my consumption. Beware to check cpompatability with your GPS. There are different data standards and my Lowrance doesnt work with my Garmin GPS.

Re: Fuel Flow Gauge

I've looked at the twinscan units. Very appealing... Do they give distance to empty?

Commander --- Hey I havent seen that series with dual consumption and dual tach. Got a model number?

Many thanks,

Anyone using the NavMan stuff??? I think its the 3100 series...
