Hello Everyone:

I really need help on this one.

I have a 19' center console equipped with a Humminbird 797. I would like to install an fuel low meter that will calculate mileage so I can maximise my efficiency. I am running a '93 120 Evinrude I do not think I will have the option to utilize all the features of the Lowrance units.

I have read the post on this subject and I get the gist of it but I am still confused.

Does anyone know a specific meter that will work with my GPS and what do I need to connect it.

With fuel as expensive as it is, I want to get the most out of every drop.

Thank you very much for you help.

Re: Fuel Flow/Mileage Gauge???

Why not buy a very inexpensive Navman 2100 or Northstar 210. They are about $125 - $175 depending on where you shop. They do not calculate miles per gallon but they do provide gallons/hour (instant and average), fuel remaining, fuel used this trip, fuel used total (until reset). If you have a GPS you can still calculate MPG in your head if you feel that number is important to you. You don't need the two units interconnected.

Thanks ST,

The MPG is the primary reason I want the meter. I want to be able to fine tune my throttle for maximum efficiency.

I will look into what you recommended.

Thank you again for your reply.

That's exactly what a flow meter tells you. The reading is in g/hr.

Re: Fuel Flow/Mileage Gauge???

I have a flow meter that hooks up to my Lowrance GPS/Sounder. It measures th g/hr but calculates your MPG from the speed from the GPS. Way easier to figure out your best settings that way. Since I am adjusting both my throttle and trim, g/hr alone would be tougher to figure out your most economical setting.

Bruce

That is exactly what I am trying to accomplish. A setup like you have will allow me to find the optimum speed and the optimum trim.

I need to know what meter will interface with my Humminbird 797.

Thanks,
