Having some problems with the fuel gauge.

I thought the old one was bad, so I replaced it and still get the same/similar problem.

The gauge does not go all the way up when the tank is full, nor does it go all the way down when empty (which worries me more).

Any suggestions ?

Thanks John

off hand, it sounds like the sending unit in your tank has gone bad
.
Having just installed unit and guage (electrical), replacing an in-tank mechanical guage, I can tell you Tempo sells two sending units, the only differance in the two is to accommodate the size of your tank. About $25 for either... and they will almost certainly work just fine with either of your guages. The industry has standardized the settings for such units and the Tempo units will work across a range of applications.

Here is a link to a page that will help you trouble shoot it if you have a meter, but it does sound like a sender they go much more often than the guage itself. Fuel Guage Trouble Shooting

Yep, sounds like a sender issue. Remember when purchasing a new sender to get the proper "ohm range" to match your gauge, i.e. 240-33, 10-180, or 0-90.
