Where do I start to decide what to get. No posts, no stickies, etc found readily available.

I got a variable fuel sender with the puck that floats up and down. I turned it on and it read as expected. I got on the water at the dock and looked at it longer than 5 seconds and it bounced a lot as the previous did. I'm going to verify the Ohms are accurate and steady (denoting that the signal is not jumping) , but I'm 95% sure it's the gauge. OH, did I mention the ground and "S"/gauge wire are brand new and I added another new ground to a screw that bolts the sender down. And you thought new wiring would be an easy answer :) All are crimped with heat shrink marine connectors then painted with liquid electrical tape on the ground bar/junction unit and at the ground attached to the mounting bolt on the unit, and sprayed with corrosion block on the gauge so the wiring should be A+ :)

I don't want a computer just yet. I'm trying to find a normal full range variable gauge. I was told Moellor is just a three setting system e.g. full. 1/2 and empty... WTF???

What about Teleflex Omega series for $32.99 http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wc...toreNum=10106&subdeptNum=10474&classNum=10475

Anyone know anything about gauges?

The best mine will do is show you that there is gas in the tank; who knows how much!

OHMS are reading accurate and steady and gauge is bouncing, must be an internal wire, etc on the guage.

Will, I was in the same boat as well :) W

hen changing the sending unit on my 80 gallon tank, I found that I had basically a full tank instead of 1/4 of a tank. The weird thing is that the gauge was predictable on how the fuel was becoming less, but I guess just sat way to high in the fuel.

I could have spent hundreds on something else besides gas and had newer gas at this point, and the ability to clean out my tank as well.
