Re: fuel injection to premix

If it's Etec, no ... I assume you mean DI, like Ficht or Etec. The reason is that fuel is injected directly into the firing space, so bearings, etc in the ccase and crankshaft area would never see any oil in a DI motor using premix. By the way, the OMC oiling systems were generally very reliable. BTW,I had an '85 Johnson 140 with VRO II, which worked flawlessly for over 800 hours and about 20 years before I sold the boat and motor. Auto oiling systems can fail, but when working, they never "forget" to add oil or add the wrong amount, and have been blamed for many powerhead failures the oiling system clearly had no roll in. There have been way more PH failures due to lean running/dirty carbs than ever were caused by OMC/BRP oiling systems. I keep waiting to hear of someone trying to convert an Etec to premix, with predictable disastrous results!

If the Ficht oiling is anything like Etec, the answer is no. But I don't own a Ficht, either. If you have an oil pump under the hood with a bunch of outlet tubes, no way. Just checked the BRP PL for your motor ... premix ain't happenin for this motor.

Yes this is a fitch engine and yes it has an oil injector with all the little hose coming out.

First, get a "real" OEM shop manual ... the Seloc thing is good for a coaster for your beer, and not much more, especially with a Ficht motor.

The proper shop manual will likely, as not, have a detailed procedure for testing the oiling system. On my Etecs, getting rid of air in the system is critical for proper operation. I don't have any Ficht experience, but on my Etec's you can get a ton of info from interrogating the EMM, which manages almost everything on the powerhead and tracks loads of parameters. You may need the diagnostic sw, but again I can't speak in detail about Ficht. I wouldn't continue to run the motor with warnings present!

By the way it's Ficht, not Fitch.

Only the OEM shop manual, which you can order from any BRP dealer.
