I have 1997 225 EFI's, S225TXRV/L225TXRV and am interested in cleaning my fuel injectors.
I know there are recommendations to send them to Flagship for cleaning, but was wondering if anyone has a method for doing it yourself.

I read up on a FI cleaning system called Run-Rite, but not sure if this would be a good alternative. Has anyone used this?

Here's the contraption I was looking at. The unit is pressurized, screws into the VST joint and would mix with the gas and oil.

Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Re: Fuel Injector cleaning

problem with the 2 stroke non direct injected motors is by the time the injector is clean and flowing the correct amount odds are high you damaged a piston.
yamaha doesnt offer the injector filter as a service item so how long would you hve to run the injector to clean the screen?
most injector shops will do a continuity and flow test before and after cleaning.
the before and after numbers will give me an idea if it was actually an injector problem or do I need to keep hunting.
I did an F225 last week that the customer,in his infinate wisdom, bypassed the water seperator trying to troubleshoot a fuel issue.
filled the engine fuel system full of junk.
6 injectors and 5 hours labor later I fixed it.
