I have a 1994 Stipper 22 foot boat with a 5.0L V8 Cobra engine. It has the King cobra out drive on it as well. The problem I am having is I was running it in the ocean the other day and all the sudden the boat started spitting and spudering. I pulled the cover off the motor and it was dumping fuel out the 90deg overflow tube in the middle of the carb. It was dumping fuel to the extent it was literally bubbling out of the 2 barrel Holley carb. I just had the carb rebuilt by Flying Fish carbs so I called them and they said it sounded like maybe trash was not allowing the seat to stop the flow. I took the carb apart very carefully and cleaned it out again not finding any trash in it. I put it back on and cranked it up and after filling the bowl it started pouring out of the overflow again. I have been told by a few local shops that it sounds to them like the electric fuel pump ruptured and is now feeding to much fuel up to the carb and blowing out of the overflow. I want a few more opinions before spending $200 on a new fuel pump. The fuel pump that's on it was replaced about a year ago. I went to my local Napa and bought one of their cheap small electric aftermarket fuel pumps and it stopped the overflow issue but it does'nt feed enough fuel for the high end when running the boat. Please give me some thoughts. Thanks a million!! Joe

Model number on engine is: 502ACPMDA

Check your fuel pressure. Anything over 6-7lbs and needle wont be able to shut the fuel supply off.

You have 3 threads going on the exact same problem. You should stick to only one.

I have the same issue but mine is a mechanical pump. 1994 5.0 cobra won’t start. Fuel pouring into carb from float vent While cranking . When I took carb apart. float is adjusted fine. I can blow on tube and move float it seems to shut off proper place. Was running last year no problems. This year sever flooding. My question is can a mechanical pump all of the sudden pump way to much fuel pressure..after bowl fills it just keeps pumping out of the vent into the carb throat. I’m hoping a new pump will fix. What’s your best guess ? hope I’m on the right track.
