I just bought a new used boat with a 1998 rebuilt Evinrude with a 2004 powerhead. When I test ran it, it started up without hesitation and ran beautifully. Before starting however, I did notice that the primer bulb did not get completely hard after being pumped several times.
After I took it home, I noticed a small puddle in the engine compartment. When I pumped the primer bulb, it leaked fuel from a fuel line near the fitting.
It looks like the hose is held on by a plastic zip-tie. Is this a standard zip-tie that I can try to replace? I am not positive that the leak is coming from the fitting or if it is from somewhere else and just dripping from that location. It's in a tight location, hard to get my hands in and I need to look at it closer with a flashlight.
What are some basic steps to troubleshoot this problem, starting with the simpler and most obvious?
