Fuel leaking from waterintake.

Hi..

I have some charging problems with my engine, so I had it started yesterday in a barrel. Today when i tilted my engine I noticed fluids coming out the water intake, well thats just water i thought. It wasn?t, it was fuel.. How can that possibly end up in my water intake?

Is it overflow from my cards, or do I have a serious problem?

The engine is a 79? merc 70Hp.

Okey.. I think i found out what happened. I have sealed my intakebox because i were tired of fuel leaking in to the boat when i tilted the engine up fully. This fuel now runs in to the bottom carb and the out af a little hole in the leg of the engine.

Guess thats the way it should be if your carbs needle valve dosen?t close right "leaks when the engine is tilted".
