Fuel leaking out of carbs?

I have a 1976 Evinrude 115. The motor runs fine all day but when I shut it off and tilt the motor up I get gas leaking out of the carbs into the transom which makes a real mess. I never tilt the motor all the way up, I just tilt it up enough so the motor will clear the groung when trailoring. Is there anybody out there that may know what is causing this. It is not effecting the way the motor runs but it just makes everthing back there greasy.
Thanks in advance;
Jason

Re: Fuel leaking out of carbs?

Under normal operations, the bowls are full of gas. When you tilt the motor off-level,the gas pours out..This is normal.
To prevent this, disconnect the fuel line and allow it to run about 30seconds to run some of the fuel fronm the bowls.
I try to "time" my approach to the dock,doscconect, and ilse the rest of the way in. Byt the time I throw the line and kill the engine, it has used enough of the fuel to prevent the messy cowl.
