Fuel line bends

I did carbs on my 1979 Evinrude 140. I THOUGHT it would be a good idea to also change the lines to newer alcohol resistent stuff. So instead of yanking the lines off the barbs I cut them off (brilliant, I know).

I am concerned now that the bends may be too tight and will collapse over time. Does anyone have experience with this issue? Am I asking for a fuel line kink?

Probably. Those hoses were pre-formed. One possible solution may be to use longer hoses and re-route them. Another might be to put a spring inside them. Whatever works for you. I'd probably go with re-routing.

Thanks. If the heat doesnt cause an issue with the rubber or inside (teflon?) coating this may work (see pic). I put a little 2 cycle on the allen wrench and slid the hose on it. I applied some heat and then cooled. This got most of the bend. I'm doing it one more time to see if it will get the whole 90 degrees.

Re: Fuel line bends

Check with your dealer. They have springs that go in fuel lines so they won't kink
