Fuel line connector?

So, bought a new (supposedly) OMC fuel line connector. Unplugged, it squirts a stream of fuel from behind the valve ball pretty easily when priming, and leaks like hell when plugged. So, definitely needs a new o-ring at least, hope I am able to find somewhere tomorrow.

The connector plugs in quite tight and seems to sit well, is there a way to ensure that it is not a Yamaha connector after all? I could not find any markings on it.

Re: Fuel line connector?

Did you buy it from a dealer or a store, take it back and exchange it for another one.

I've seen people hook them up backwards with the result you described. Will fit very tight and will leak like crazy.

Re: Fuel line connector?

is it an actual omc connector.....or an aftermarket " fits omc" deal? there are some crappy knock offs out there. i had the same problem with one....chucked it and bought an omc connector, no problems after that. ( i wont mention the name of the after market "problem" connector.....but it rhymes with attwood) .:p

Re: Fuel line connector?

It should be genuine & correct OMC, but one of those parts floating around without its package. I'll take it back as it does not work properly in any case, but I doubt that I'll have time to visit there today and I'll need a working fuel line for this weekend. Guess I'll grab a collection of atleast for sure correct aftermarket models from a part store on the way and hope that one of them works for now.

edit: aftermarket connector after all. omc connectors are not stocked because of the price difference. I have and ole fuel line in a bad tank that I can rip for a good connector for now. Time to order some good ones for the next season.

edit2: The old connector worked like a charm. Atleast I have one good fuel tank with a good fuel line now. And also 4 seemingly similar on the surface aftermarket connectors. One mounts abouts 3/16" shy and leaks but mounts tight every now and then with some force and luck. One mounts and sits well but leaks like hell. The two rest mount and sit well but I did not test them would they be also tight. Crap.
