Fuel line diameter.

I have an 86 150 hp black max. I have read on this forum about fuel line diameter being no less than 5/16 and up to 3/8. When I got the motor it had 1/4 diameter. If I switch to 5/16 or 3/8, do I need to change the fittings on the carbs and the fuel pump? For example the fuel pump hose fitting is only 3/16 inside diameter.

They are talking about the boat fuel line or line that is on the vacuum side of the pump
