Can I use standard fuel line from the auto store for fuel line on my outboard? Our fuel contains ethanol.I keep hearing of problems of the rubber ect. being desolved or sluffing off the interior of the lines. I installed a fuel water seperator and had to add additional fuel line.

Thanks for the info.

Tom H.

If it's marked "fuel line" and isn't 10 years old, it will be ok with ethanol fuel. If it's not marked fuel line, all bets are off.

I wouldn't try to save a few cents on non-marine fuel line, unless there is indeed no difference from what you get at an auto store (hose markings are identical).

Marine fuel line that says A-1, A-2, B-1, or B-2 is alcohol resistant. Coast Guard approved marine fuel line has one of those letter-number combinations printed at least every 12" of length.
